It's pretty simple. You got an ISO image of the game or retail disk. It's got *.csm and *.csd files in it.

REMEMBER: you can't unpack the game before its release date!

So the game release date has come, what you do?

  • Get the manifest files for the game. Program will inform you what files are needed (later versions, not 1.6 alpha 0). You'll also probably find them here or somewhere on the Internet
  • Go to Program Settings, set there GCF folder. If Steam is installed, it would be like ...\Steam\SteamApps
  • Manifest files put in ...\Steam\depotcache folder, Phoenix will search for them in that folder
  • Now go to CSD Unpacker tab
  • Select CSD file in the game disk (or image or whatever)
  • Select Destination folder where to unpack
  • Select\Check all the items on the left-bottom list
  • Click Unpack button and wait

I just preloaded the game that's coming out next week called XCOM: Enemy Unknown and was wondering if there's a way to crack it open and play it early? I believe I found the CSD files (was a 12GB download in Steam and then there were a couple CSD files that seemed to account for this filesize). Any guidance would be appreciated.

Seems that the developer guy of Phoenix has stopped working on a newer version of Phoneix.

It's very sad, very very sad! sad

Solivan, you are pretty right. Gosh, look at me, answering at your response 2,5 weeks later than your post. Yes, I do indeed pretty busy with what's going on IRL with me. And I'm sorry for that. I do believe though that the programming experience I acquire will help support tools in a better way than i used to. Phx just got a code mess that I tired supporting. So now I am trying to rewrite it with the time.

This can and will take much time. I will post the update when something is done. And it wil be done smile

The working life spend all the life of the human (philosopher words), hehehe.

But I think that the good news is that you will release a new Phoenix software, like John Carmack says a time ago:

...will be released when it's done (talking about Doom 4)

I think the same way is for your great Phoenix tool.

Well, good look in your job, and take it easy with your rewrite coding of Phnx.

I like much more the slow releasing softwares, but that it work well, than the fast releasing softwares that at last, are a crap.

Thanks for your time Stat1c_V01D.

Hi Everyone!!

Sorry but I  am kinda lost here! help

All I've got is a folder with those files:

105431_depotcache_1.csd
105431_depotcache_1.csm
105431_depotcache_2.csd
105431_depotcache_2.csm
105431_depotcache_3.csd
105431_depotcache_3.csm
sku.sis

Searching the internet I got here, with led me to further search and i found:

1 - Phoenix_15RC2 cool

2 - this undownloadable manifest: https://steamdb.info/depot/105431/ with has the same number as written inside sku.sis

3 - and this file: http://www.ulozto.sk/xuhmUBS/age-of-empires-online-rar with a similar manifest.txt

I know I am not the smartest person in the world, actually right now I am feeling realy dumb, so I could use a little help here:

"Get the manifest files for the game" -> Can I use the manifest .txt i just  got?

"Program will inform you what files are needed"-> When it is supposed to give me that information?

"Go to Program Settings, set there GCF folder." All I got are those files I
mentioned. As I supposed all I needed is "an ISO image of the game or
retail disk. It's got *.csm and *.csd files in it." But the program
keeps saying that i have no GCF files.... confused

Thanks!!!
